 | As regards this year, the Commission constituted of the academician Zeljko Kucan, Prof. Drazena Papes, PhD, Prof. Branko Brdar, PhD, Prof. Zoran Zgaga, PhD, and Djurdica Ugarkovic, PhD, had reached the decision as to present this Award to Silvija Bilokapic, PhD, who currently holds the position of a scientific research assistant at the Biochemistry Department embraced by the Faculty of Natural Sciences University of Zagreb. Silvija Bilokapic had successfully completed her studies in Molecular Biology, and showed interest in pathways to aminoacyl –tRNA-synthesis as early as when preparing her undergraduate thesis in the laboratory led by Prof. Weygand Djurasevic (academic year 1999/2000). Following graduation, her interest in this subject-matter continued to grow stronger, so that following her affiliation with the Biochemistry Department, where she had been designated the post of a research assistant and presented with the opportunity to continue her education in a postgraduate manner, she successfully carries on with her research in the field (2001). J. Biochem. (2004) i EMBO J. (2006) na kojima je prvi autor. Nagrada Zeljko Trgovcevic dodjeljena joj je za rad: Bilokapic, S., Maier, T., Ahel, D., Gruic-Sovulj, I., Söll, D., Weygand-Durasevic, I. and Ban, N. (2006). Structure of the unusual seryl-tRNA synthetase reveals a distinct zinc-dependent mode of substrate recognition. EMBO J. 25, 2498-2509. | | | |
